McCook Toy Box
The McCook Toy Box was founded in 1982.
The Toy Box is a local nonprofit group that collects both new & used toys for those folks that are struggling at Christmas time. Our ultimate goal is that no child goes without having gifts at Christmas.
Toys are collected throughout the year and stored in a donated site. The big
push begins just after Thanksgiving when sites throughout the area are
designated. Raffles are held when an occasion may arise to raise funds.
Many volunteers offer their time and talents from repairing bikes, cleaning dolls, sorting and cleaning the 1000’s of gently used toys to helping with the setup of the event.
In 2007, we saw our largest numbers ever; over 650 children received a new item with 137 bikes, 20 wagons and 14 tricycles being given to families who expressed a need by just showing up.
The Toy Box is the only Christmas event of its kind that an invitation is not required. No income qualifications are requested. If you have a need, you may come.
The years that many of the volunteers have helped shows the worthiness of
this Southwest Nebraska Event.
We, the Toy Box Elves, would like to invite everyone to the amazement of the Toy Box Event.
An Open House is held the day of the event from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Please come.
