Three Organizations Receive Funds from McCook Community Foundation

McCook Community Foundation Board President, Gene Morris and Board Treasurer, Doug Skiles presented checks to three local organizations on Saturday evening at their annual Founders’ Celebration held at The Bieroc Café. Receiving donations were Hillcrest Nursing Home Foundation, the Fox Theater project, and the YMCA Diving Board project.

Hillcrest Nursing Home Foundation was represented by Board Chairman, Jim Hall, who accepted the $1,000 check. Their foundation has recently affiliated with McCook Community Foundation to create gift annuities for their donors. Nebraska Community Foundation has the financial capacity and planned giving experitise to provide this opportunity to non-profit organization affiliated with McCook Community Foundation.

Don Harpst accepted a $1,000 check to assist in determining the feasibility of the Fox Theater project. McCook Community Foundation recognizes the challenges of starting projects and the planning costs involved with their effort.

Jim Brandt received a $500 check for the Diving Board Campaign that has already installed one new standard at the YMCA. Mr. Brandt effectively utilized the McCook Community Foundation in establishing their fund and using our 501(c)3 designation to make the donations tax-deductible.

The evening included a wine tasting by Finocchiaro Wine Company, presented by Dick Hoffman, and entertainment provided by a talented thirteen-year old, Brandenn Bremmer, who is an accomplished pianist. The first-ever Benefactor Award was memorable with a presentation by Walt Sehnert and a video of John T. and Eleanor Harris.
