McCook Community Foundation Sells Jewell Property

McCook Community Foundation announces the sale of real estate donated by the C.T. & Helen Jewell family.  Through the generosity of C.T. and Helen Jewell’s children, a gift of real estate on the Heritage Hills Golf Course in McCook was donated to the McCook Community Foundation in honor of their deceased parents.  The children include: Robert Jewell, Nancy Jewell Tarnutzer, Terry Jewell and Diane Jewell.

Purchasing the real estate on the Heritage Hills Golf Course is Jim and Connie Gohl.  They have not indicated their plans for the property, but are supportive of McCook Community Foundation.  “We are pleased to own the property and ensure that the foundation builds their endowment with our purchase,” stated the Gohl’s.  Their purchase sends funds directly to McCook Community Foundation’s endowment.  A gift will be presented every year in honor of the Jewell family to a deserving community charitable organization.

“McCook Community Foundation is pleased to sell the real estate donated by the Jewell family.  We are encouraging organizations to apply for funds this summer that will be awarded at our Annual Founders Event in October,” according to Stan Goodwin, Chairman of McCook Community Foundation.  Applications will be available in June.  Several organizations have received funds at this annual event, such as: Share-A-Seat, McCook Toy Box & Work Ethic Camp project, McCook Community Trails,  Community Hospital Health Foundation Rehab Center project, CASA, Bison Alumni Newsletter, Kelley Creek Disc Golf Course and other worthy projects in McCook.

Bob Jewell noted that, “C.T. and Helen had wonderful memories of their time in McCook.  They would love to visit McCook and always spoke fondly of the people and places.”

Daughter Nancy Jewell Tarnutzer commented, “the Jewell children donated the real estate to honor our parents.  We want C.T. and Helen to be rememberd as having given back to the community that had supported their individual business’s and supported them in combining two families into one.  We children will never forget our wonderful experiences of growing up in McCook.”
