'Scrooge' challenges donors to reach $100,000

Don Harpst and his wife, Alice, have challenged the McCook Community Foundation to raise $75,000 by Dec. 31. If they are successful, the Harpsts will donate an additional $25,000, increasing the total given in the campaign to $100,000.
Don, whose latest role is "Scrooge" has personally challenged the local financial institutions to contribute $25,000.
The funds from the challenge will go into McCook Community Foundation's Endowment fund, and gifts will be awarded annually at the Founder's Celebration.
In 2007, the McCook Community Foundation was able to award $22,100 in financial gifts and scholarships.
Harpst will be portraying Scrooge in McCook Community College Theater's production of "A Christmas Carol" Nov. 29 through Dec. 2. Tickets are $5 and are available at Schmick's Market, McCook Community College Welcome Center or at the door.
