McCook Community Foundation Announces Haag Scholarship Winner

McCook Community Foundation proudly announces the 2008 recipient of the Bernard and Nelda Haag Scholarship. Through the generosity of Nelda and the late Bernard Haag, a $1000 scholarship will be presented to Shalee Roundtree, a senior at Dundy County-Stratton High School. Roundtree is planning to attend the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in the fall to study ag business. She plans to come back to Southwest Nebraska after college and work for a local newspaper.
Shalee was named the 2006 Outstanding 4-H member in Dundy County and has twice earned the livestock Grand Champion Showmanship award. She also earned Grand Championship honors for the past six years in 4-H speech. As an active member of Future Farmers of America, Shalee has qualified for state livestock judging throughout her high school career. She was named Outstanding FFA member for two of those years and was a State Degree Recipient in 2008. Shalee’s other high school honors include Who’s Who Among American High School Students, The National Society of High School Scholars and a place on the honor roll. Shalee enjoys working on the family farm, Roundtree Cattle LLC, and being a life-guard at the city pool in Benkelman.
The Haag scholarship is based on applicants’ extracurricular activities, leadership, work/volunteer experience, personal essay and financial need. McCook Community Foundation, through its affiliation with the Nebraska Community Foundation, receives tax deductible charitable donations to fund numerous community betterment projects in southwest Nebraska.
