Community Foundation Chooses Directors; Elects Officers

The fund advisory committee of the McCook Community Foundation was expanded Friday with the election of Dale Dueland, Stan Goodwin and Leigh Ann Miller to the organization's board of directors.

Dueland, a farmer; Goodwin, an attorney; and Miller, a business department staff member at Community Hospital, all have active records of community involvement. Dueland is the current chairman of the McCook Economic Development Corp.; Goodwin was the 2008 chairman of the McCook Community Foundation; and Miller is a member of the Cordials and has been active in Bison Boosters and the Adopt an Athlete program at McCook Community College.

The directors were chosen for three-year terms. Dueland and Miller are new to the board, joining a team of directors that also includes Goodwin, Don Harpst, Doug Skiles, Kathy Latta, Mark Graff, Kay Flaska and Cheri Beckenhauer.

Susan Harris Broomfield and Gene Morris, who completed terms as directors this month, were elected as advisory board members for 2009.

The election of directors took place Friday morning at the McCook Community Foundation's annual members meeting. In the December meeting of the fund advisory committee, which immediately followed the members meeting, the foundation officers for 2009 were chosen.

The new officers are Don Harpst, chairman; Doug Skiles, vice chairman; Kathy Latta, secretary; and Mark Graff, treasurer.

Before adjourning, the directors of the McCook Community Foundation gave special recognition to Peggy Been, the recording secretary, and Lindsey Foster, the administrative assistant.

The McCook Community Foundation, formed in 2001, is an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation. In 2008, total assets of the McCook fund approached $1 million.
