Share-A-Seat
2005 – The city Auditorium received 534 new no-break plastic seats to replace
the uncomfortable benches that had previously seated audiences for many years.
Missy
Nelson spearheaded the campaign drive for the seats after booking the city
auditorium for a women’s retreat held by her church.
Missy Nelson and a few other women from the women’s retreat board established a fund with the McCook Community Foundation. With the help of the MCF, donor’s contributions were tax deductible within the law of a 501(c)3 designation.
The McCook community responded very generously to this project and in less than 5 months the Share-A-Seat Campaign raised the $45,000 needed. With the project complete and the new seats installed the local community will enjoy many events in comfort.
