Share-A-Seat

2005 – The city Auditorium received 534 new no-break plastic seats to replace the uncomfortable benches that had previously seated audiences for many years. Share-A-Seat ProjectMissy Nelson spearheaded the campaign drive for the seats after booking the city auditorium for a women’s retreat held by her church.

Missy Nelson and a few other women from the women’s retreat board established a fund with the McCook Community Foundation Fund. With the help of the MCF, donor’s contributions were tax deductible within the law of a 501(c)3 designation.

The McCook community responded very generously to this project and in less than 5 months the Share-A-Seat Campaign raised the $45,000 needed. With the project complete and the new seats installed the local community will enjoy many events in comfort.
